Dinner with a Top Chef
A little while ago, we had the pleasure of attending The Good Food Awards, an event that honors not only good food, but food that has a positive impact and food initiatives that help to build a community. At the event, we got to meet Bernardo Hernandez, a champion of young chefs in San Francisco.
When Bernardo worked at Zagat he started the 30 Under 30 program (of which cofounder Lisa was an honoree) to help young guns get some recognition. He hosts food salons for innovative thinkers to talk about deeper things than tech. Another cool fact? One of his best friends is Ferran Adria!
Last night, we had the pleasure of enjoying a dinner hosted by Bernardo and made by Top Chef Boston Finalist, Melissa King! Above you see her halibut with sous vide lemongrass dashi (made with Nomiku of course!). You can get a recipe for it here–she made this on the show!
Then she made a celery root veloute with sous vide coffee butter, oats and Asian pear! So delicate, yet rich!
And you of course can’t forget dessert! A chamomile panna cotta with a honey crumble and sous vide strawberries! Divine.
It was an incredible night, full of good food and connecting with some of the most passionate food lovers around. Here’s to more nights like this one!
